Savouring the Ribble Valley

While Greendale Teahouse may be no more, the Ribble Valley remains one of the most exciting food destinations in the North of England. Whether you’re starting the day with a beautifully prepared breakfast, settling in for lunch after a countryside ramble, or lingering over tea and cake in the afternoon, the region is full of places passionate about flavour, quality, and genuine hospitality.

Venture out and you’ll discover an outstanding food scene, from rustic village pubs to refined Michelin-starred dining rooms. Wherever you choose to eat, stay, or simply pause for a drink, expect skilled hands, local produce, and warm Northern hospitality.

Every recommendation on this page comes from places we genuinely enjoy ourselves. We’ve eaten there, drunk there, celebrated there, and happily send our own friends and family there too.

We especially recommend La Locanda in Gisburn. Maurizio’s authentic Italian cooking, handmade pasta and exceptional bread are matched beautifully by Cinzia and her welcoming front of house team, who bring warmth, knowledge, and a real passion for Italian wine and hospitality. It’s a truly special place and well worth building a future visit around, read more below.
